Honest Miles is a mileage tracking app built for gig workers, freelancers, and contractors. This policy explains what data the app collects, how it is used, and how it is stored.
If you enable Auto-Detect (a Premium feature), Honest Miles uses your device location to detect when you are driving and record the route of that trip. Honest Miles also uses motion data, via Apple's Core Motion framework, to detect when you have stopped driving so trips end automatically and accurately.
If you use manual trip logging instead, no background location or motion tracking occurs.
We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any other personal identifying information. Honest Miles has no login or account system.
All trip data is stored using Apple's SwiftData framework and synced through your personal, private iCloud account (Apple CloudKit).
If iCloud sync is unavailable (for example, if you are not signed into iCloud), your data stays only on your device.
Subscription purchases are processed entirely by Apple through StoreKit and your Apple ID. Honest Miles never sees, receives, or stores your credit card or payment information.
Honest Miles contains no third-party analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting software of any kind. We do not use tracking SDKs, and we do not sell, share, or monetize your data in any way. Your information moves strictly between your device and your own private iCloud container.
You can delete any trip, all your trip history, or the app itself at any time. Deleting the app removes local data from your device; data in your private iCloud account can be managed through your device iCloud settings.
Honest Miles is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of this page.
